CHANGES IN DISMISSAL – REMINDER

To ensure that dismissal is orderly and safe for all children, dismissal plans should be as consistent as possible.  Dismissal changes should be made only when absolutely necessary, as they are a source of confusion for children. If a change is necessary, a note must be sent to the classroom teacher (not the main office) with the child in the morning.  All dismissal changes must be documented in writing.  We respectfully request that you avoid making last-minute changes by calling the office.  While we will certainly honor your request in an emergency, please know that mid-day changes result in interruptions to the classroom and distress for children.  If a true emergency arises during the day and your child’s dismissal plan needs to be changed, you should make aphone call to the office (followed up by an email or a fax).  Also, these changes must be communicated by 2:45PM.

NOTES from the PTG

Look for the email to sign up for the 6th Grade Election Bake Sale, on November 7th.

FROM THE SCHOOL

A message from the principal: Our first week of school seemed to fly by!  On Tuesday, children were welcomed by our PTG volunteers who helped second graders find their way to the café, where they gathered to meet with new teachers and new friends.  Classrooms were busy with activities that focused on celebrating summer and transitioning back to school.  Mr. Gray and I had “town meetings” with each grade level in order to review our expectations for the year.  Additionally, we served as the first anchors on LHTV Morning News as another way to reach out to all of our youngsters.

I would like to take a moment to remind parents of some important information:

  • Change in dismissal notifications must go directly to the classroom teacher.  A call to the main office or principal is only for emergency situations.

  • For safety reasons, students may not bring more than one or two friends home on their bus on any given day.

Please be sure to sign and review the Student Agenda Book (planner), which contains additional information.
As you can see, Friday Notes will be coming to you electronically, in email format.  Attachments (flyers, letters, etc.) will be accessible as links at the top of the email.  Additionally, please be sure to visit our website where you can view pictures of teaching and learning that is Challenging, Collaborative, and Creative!!  Looking forward to a great year!

Mrs. Massimo

Thank You from the PTG!

The PTG would like to thank Augusta Reese for taking care of ordering school supplies for our children and making sure they are in our child’s classroom on the first day of school. Thank you Augusta!  A big thank you to Jill Einhorn for her role in putting together the new family orientation!  Through the PTG’s ambassador program, Jill helped us to welcome sixteen new families to Lloyd Harbor School!
